Research the high street travel shops and those on-line for both last minute deals and early booking special offers. Both can be good value for money.
A last minute deal may need you to be flexible regarding the exact destination, accommodation and time. You may have to be able to travel at quite short notice.
On the other hand booking a vacation early, perhaps for the next year, can also be good value. Early booking deals often give two weeks for the price of one or other incentives. Knowing that you have a vacation booked for as much as 12 months in advance will give you time to save enough money also.
Alternatively look at budget priced vacations such as staying in a caravan, on a campsite, or travelling by public transport. Now that you have an idea of the possible total cost of your vacation, start to work out a budget.
There are many ways to save such as:-
Look for part-time work on-line such as completing Vacation Booking surveys or writing product reviews. Such activities can increase the amount of money that you have to play around with.
Economise on energy bills around the home. This will help the environment as well as saving you money. Make sure that thermostats are turned down a notch, you only use the economical cycles on dishwashers and washing machine, you avoid using the tumble drier at all costs, you wash the dishes by hand a few times a week instead of using the dishwasher, you only use such washing machines when you have a full load, lights are turned off in unoccupied rooms, you switch to energy saving light bulbs and no appliances are ever left in stand by mode. This list is not exhaustive and needs tailoring to fit your household. Make sure that all the household members are on board and you should save a heap of cash.
